Basically, in this millennial era, many people assume that character education in children in the past and present is different. Character education in ancient times is better than today. Quality character at this time needs to be shaped and nurtured from an early age.

Early childhood, especially elementary school age children (SD) is a critical period for the formation of one's character, moral cultivation through character education as early as possible to children is the main key to building the nation. This happens because in fact, the attitude of most children today are more stubborn or difficult to regulate and make parents stroking their chests, for example elementary school children who dare to fight teachers and parents, fight with friends, smoke and still have other bad behavior.

It is growing worse with increasing sophistication of science and technology among children. Children's freedom to access the Internet makes it focused only on what they see on the Internet. As if assuming anything he saw out there was a must and was very cool when he did or imitated it. This problem is one of the negative impacts of technological sophistication.

Current technological developments cannot be prevented by anyone. However, there are efforts to minimize and strengthen supervision and provide character education to children in this millennial era. This is done so that children know the positive and negative impacts of the use of technology in the current era of globalization. Elementary school children are children who are still early age in general at that time still unstable and tend to have a fairly large curiosity and are easily influenced by negative things.

There are two roles that are most responsible for carrying out tasks for children's character education, namely parents and teachers. A teacher has a role as the child's parent at school. So that becoming a primary school teacher is not only responsible for providing lessons, but must be able to educate morals, ethics, and character in their students.

Through the education trilogy concept that Ki Hadjar Dewantara put forward, teachers can overcome the problems of character education in elementary school children. The educational trilogy contains three motto, Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha means in front of a good example or example, Ing Madya Mangun Karsa which means that in the middle of the student the teacher is able to create initiatives and ideas, and Tut Wuri Handyani means from behind the teacher is able to provide encouragement and instruction. So the teacher not only teaches, but also educates.

The actualization of Ki Hadjar Dewantara's teachings in the modern era is very useful to improve the nation's character. Character education is very important because it can improve the quality of implementation and educational outcomes in schools that lead to the achievement of character building and noble character of elementary school children in an integrated, integrated and balanced manner. Need a joint step to make it happen, so that the Indonesian people turn into a nation of high character. If character education has achieved success, it will be realized the next generation of the nation with character and no doubt the future of this Indonesian nation will experience a change towards glory.
